Tesla Terafactory Texas Update #139 in 4K: Completing The Substation - 04/14/21 (5:15pm | 81°F)

Hey everybody, it’s Randy! In today’s video, we see the continued notable progress and gains throughout the site. Walls continue to go up quickly, steel continues to be erected, and it’s looking like the work on the substation is extremely close to being completed.

Here are today’s key takeaways:
- The northeast corner shows continued GeoPier and footing installation work. We also notice two of the large cranes have moved to the area and there is another one of the very large chillers manufactured by Trane in the area. The previous one we saw last week was in fact seen on the 2nd level of the factory, which leads me to believe this one will also be lifted and put on the same level as well. There is also some assembled rebar on the ground nearby that looks different from the squares we’ve been used to seeing due to the gray area running down the middle.
- The paint shop roof insulation has really picked up and most of the center and south sections are covered. The south end of the paint shop now has about 75% of the metal wall studs installed and sheathing continues to immediately be installed as well. We can also see that the area of the large excavation just south of the paint shop continues to grow in size. On the west side, sheathing now almost completely blocks the internal view of the north end and the central section is not far behind.
- The GigaPress area shows that the transition on the roof is having metal decking installed in and around the corner. The gas line on the east side looks to be having work done to connect it to the building.
- The storm water drainage pipe on the far south end of the site has finally been connected after lying in position for the last 2 weeks while other areas of the system were completed.
- The GA area ramp has now had rebar installed and we’ll likely see concrete poured in the next day or so, which we could then start seeing this ramp start to be used getting materials in and out of this area for workers onsite.
- The northwest corner battery cell production area continues to expand north as expected, but notably, the roof and floor decking on all levels are being installed slightly behind the forward expansion line. I believe this is actually the first time we’ve seen it done this way on the site since previously, pretty much all of or the vast majority of the steel was erected before the spreading of the decking occurred.
- We see that many new deliveries of paint shop equipment provided by Durr has arrived on site as well.
- Finally, the electrical substation looks to be finished since the access and automatic gates have been installed. Finishing touches like spreading of gravel look to be all they have remaining regarding the construction of the area. Work taking place in the maintenance and control sheds will most likely be ongoing until power is turned on.
