Here is my video of the Olympic Class liners tender, Nomadic, with a model inside the Nomadic of Traffic. Both tenders moved passengers from shore to the liners in deeper waters. Nomadic serviced the port of Cherbourg, France.

Nomadic moved first and second class passengers to Olympic and Titanic. Britannic never worked as a passenger liner. It was sunk in WW1 after striking a mine, acting as a hospital ship. Traffic moved third class passengers, also called steerage. The third class was the shipping companies bread and butter! In the late 19th and early 20th century, millions of people were immigrating to the USA. There was no such thing as jets or air planes to cross the Atlantic. Steamships were how they arrived in style and comfort, within a week or so. Previous to that, it was months sailing across oceans in rickety wood sailing ships.

In my video if you really look, why in that classroom setting, videoing through the glass, which had a lot of reflection, the port steam engine low pressure cylinder is slightly visible. I could see it, but the camera had a hard time as the lighting was poor in that space, compared to the classroom. The boilers were visible toward the rear and most likely were oil fired, as most boilers were converted from coal to oil by the 20's. That saved lots of labor cost for the shipping companies. The Fireman and Trimmers were paid just under what officers were paid. A dirty nasty job that paid very well for the era.
