Is it possible to trade dollar bin books for a Golden Age Mega Key?
We're trying to find out by trading up from a batch of dollar bin books to get an All-Star Comics #8. Along the way, I'll be trying to find books that my trading partners need for their collections - and that's you! Plus, I'll be scouring comic book stores and conventions for new dollar bin finds to add to the trading pool.
This is The Great Dollar Bin Trading Challenge: Rounds 4 and 5!
Rundown of trades from Round 3: 2:26
New books added to the trade kitty: 10:51
Re-evaluating values: 17:38
Books available for Round 5: 23:30
A quick reminder of the rules: I began with 20 dollar bin books. If I drop below 20 books in the Trade Kitty, I'll add more books that I have found in dollar bins. Anything that enters the Trade Kitty is available to trade, and I won't be keeping any of these books for myself until the end. My hope is that you can take the extra books in your collection that you don't care about and then trade them to me for books you want, increasing the value of the Trade Kitty at the same time.
Here are the books available for Round 5:
1. Lone Wolf and Cub #1 - 8.5 - $15
2. Young Romance #172 - 5.0 - $15 - TRADED!
3. Micronauts #1 (whitman) - 8.0 - $20
4. Ice Cream Man #23 variant - 9.2 - $30
5. StarSlayer #2 - 8.5 - $35
6. Red Ryder #65&85 - 4.5 - $40
7. Black Panther #1 (1998) - 9.2 - $45 - PENDING!
8. Static #1 - 9.2 - $50

The fine print: I do reserve the right to turn down any trades. But since I am not keeping any books for myself, I am willing to take in literally anything you offer for whatever books you want form the trading Kitty, as long as the deal gets us closer to the end goal. Want to trade me a $100 Alf issue for $95 worth of X-Men keys? It a deal!!
A couple more rules: other than shipping, the only money I am allowed to spend is $1 on dollar bin books (or potentially to CGC books if it gets to that point). I cannot throw in any cash to sweeten deals, even at the very end. This has to be 100% pure trading start to finish!
If multiple people express interest in the same books, I will respond in a first come first serve basis. If a deal can't be reached with the first person, I will then respond to the next, etc.
And finally, once a deal is made, I will send the outgoing books after I have received the incoming ones.
I can also provide scans of the books if you want a closer look at them. If you're interested in trading for one or more of these books, you can email me at:
crimebustercomics@gmail.com.
I truly think this could be a ton of fun as a community challenge, and a great way to get cool books into the hands of the people who want them most. And I also think we can actually pull it off!
Let the trading commence!!
