SMC has a large variety of temperature control units. Some are made to fit into a standardized 19” rack. Depending on the technology used, these are divided into Thermo-chillers (HRR Series) and Thermo-cons (HECR Series).
Thermo-cons are using an array of thermoelectric coolers (TEC) – also known as Peltier device or solid-state refrigerator – to maintain the temperature needed. The cooling capacity of the HECR Series ranges from 200W to 1200W. They provide excellent temperature stability of up to +/- 0,01°C.
Thermo-chillers have a refrigeration circuit – similar to an air-conditioner – for maintaining the desired temperature. The cooling capacity of the HRR Series starts at 0,95kW and can go up to 5,0kW in its most powerful model. They have a very good temperature stability of +/- 0,1°C and are very power efficient.
