Counterflow chillers are a tube-inside-a-tube design and work by running hot wort from the boil kettle through the inner tube while cold water flows in the opposite direction through the outer tube. They are efficient and tend to minimize water use; they are the best method to chill large (10 gallons or more) volumes of wort. They also require diligent cleaning and sanitation, and work best with kettles that have spigots.

Plate chillers use a manifold of stainless or copper plates instead of tubing, and this high surface-to-volume ratio makes them even more efficient.

This compact and economical plate chiller is very effective at rapidly reducing wort to pitching temperatures. Plate chillers are more efficient than both immersion chillers and other counterflow designs. Save water and time while chilling your wort. The Wort Plate Chiller is a highly-efficient, compact plate-type wort chiller similar in design to the Therminator. This chiller is made of different quantities plates of 304 stainless steel that have been brazed together with pure copper in an oxygen-free furnace.

This chiller has1.5Inch TC as inlet and outlet. Wort may be pumped or gravity fed through the chiller.
