The world of compact RVs has become increasingly competitive, but Pilote has stepped forward once again with a brand new concept that aims to change expectations in the small motorhome segment. For the 2026 model year, the French RV specialist introduces the Pilote P620D Expression, a tiny Fiat-based motorhome that carries the promise of a layout unlike anything currently on the market. Pilote has been designing motorhomes since 1962, so it is a brand that understands functionality, comfort, and creative space solutions. With this new release, it delivers impressive results packaged in a body that feels like a campervan but performs like a true motorhome.

At 6.2 meters long and 2.3 meters wide, the P620D Expression is the smallest model in Pilote’s low-profile range. This compact footprint makes it highly maneuverable, even in tight urban environments. With a maximum weight rating of 3,500 kilograms, it remains fully accessible to anyone holding a standard B category driving license. Despite its compact exterior, Pilote promises surprising interior spaciousness, targeting couples as the primary users but also offering the option to add an extra bed for one or two children if needed.

The magic of the P620D Expression lies in its innovative interior layout. The company uses an electric drop-down bed as the main sleeping area, which frees up space during the day and lowers to a comfortable 80 centimeters from the floor at night, removing the need for a ladder. The new layout also places a full wardrobe and a portion of the kitchen over the rear garage. This design makes the P620D the first series-built motorhome of this size to include a full wardrobe, a large refrigerator, and dedicated storage space for a microwave above the garage. It is a clever use of vertical space that makes the RV feel much larger inside than its size suggests.

There are some tradeoffs, such as the bathroom placement. Instead of a rear bathroom, Pilote installs a side bathroom directly opposite the kitchen. To avoid a cramped wet bath, the company uses a swivel wall system that swings the sink aside to reveal a proper shower cubicle. When moved, the wall covers the toilet and hidden storage compartments, creating a true dry bath. Privacy is provided by a rolling screen, behind which Pilote includes a hidden compartment for linens, maximizing space while keeping necessary items organized.

The front of the RV includes a spacious dinette lounge that can sit up to seven people around a two-piece adjustable table. Four belted travel seats ensure safe passenger transport. The living area feels open and flexible, especially with the drop-down bed stored overhead. The kitchen provides a two-burner gas cooktop, sink, grill-equipped oven, and a 133-liter refrigerator with freezer. Across from it is a TV mount with wiring for a satellite dish and solar system, making extended travel easier.

Storage is another highlight of this compact RV. In addition to the wardrobe and rear garage, Pilote includes double-floor storage compartments accessible only from inside and a unique exterior slide-out drawer designed for wet storage, a rare feature in motorhomes of this length. The P620D uses the Fiat Ducato chassis and a 2.2-liter 140-horsepower engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The polyester shell is fully insulated and built for durability, while the 2026 model introduces new exterior graphics, an updated rear design, and an improved interior atmosphere.

Freshwater capacity sits at 130 liters and wastewater at 95 liters, placing it slightly above average for European RVs of similar size. Pricing varies based on selected options and regional dealers, but the example unit showcased recently is priced at 82,210 pounds, including several optional upgrades.
