Here's a process showing how I etch and sharpen a mosaic damascus steel blade I forged with 4.5 billion year old meteorite iron integrated into the pattern.

The meteorite iron I used is Muonionalusta meteorite iron that comes from near the small village of Kitkiöjärvi, which was discovered in 1906. It has survived nearly 4 ice ages, and is dated to be one of the oldest meteorites ever recorded. Dating to be older than the Earth itself, it comes from a planetoid that was once apart of the parent body of our solar system.

The steel I used is 15n20/ 1084, which I forged and crafted the layers of the damascus steel (or pattern-welded steel) into a 'feather' pattern to represent a meteorite coming into the atmosphere, where the meteorite (the circle in the center) is essentially surrounded by 'flames'.
