MTech utilized the office building's tower crane to hoist two 30,500 lbs loads to the roof of an 11-story office tower. In a critical lift the two chillers were placed partially on the pads in the mechanical penthouse before the steel was set. Using the tower crane to carry approximately half of the load MTech slid the chillers about 6' on skates into the final location. The second chiller required the use of an electric pusher due to the distance from the tower crane.

Due to the winter weather that arrived in Denver, activities were delayed for the lift causing the crews to work on a Saturday to maintain schedule. The schedule for this area is critical to the turnover of the whole project.

The chillers had a load weight of 29,000 lbs with another 1,500 lbs in rigging. Each machine is 14' long and 8' wide. Moving almost 30,000 lbs once it is set half on and half off the pad was definitely a unique task.

At a capacity of 800 tons, each of the chillers will serve the entire city block of McGregor square with chilled water for air conditioning in a hotel, office building, condominiums, restaurants and retail spaces.
