Drew explains how heat pump applications depend on the system design. He specifies three main compressor design optimizations which all are used in heat pump applications. He talks about the standard lift, which is primarily used for water-cooled chillers, the medium lift, which is a hybrid for water-cooled chillers, and the high lift, which enables the highest temperature operating.
