Seriously?? When we bought this beautiful Southern Missouri homestead the previous owners would not agree to any septic system inspection or pumping and servicing and the home inspection noted as much. So we had to take a risk IF we wanted to buy this homestead, as far as the septic tank it was either Take it or leave it.. So we went ahead and bought it knowing that we needed to get the septic tank pumped and serviced and hope that it was still all fully functional since it was granfathered as long as it was functional. So today on 'Septic tank Sunday' we finally got around to tackling this project, and man what a project it was! Today we will excavate the septic tank which is over 4 feet below the surface to reveal the 2 septic tank covers so that we can have this tank pumped and serviced. It was a nail biter excavation to be sure as there were plenty of risks involved with this DIY septic tank excavation. I could have hit an electrical line for a septic tank bubbler, I could have hit either one of the septic lines, the incoming line or the outgoing line and really caused a major emergency mess for us, or I could hit one the septic tank lids, causing damage, which could then require us to get a whole new septic tank and drain field system! Join us today for another DIY Modern Homestead episode to see how Septic Tank Sunday turns out! #kapperoutdoors #kapperoutdoorsmissouri #kapperoutdoors2
