Unbelievable that this happens to X6, X5 and some other BMW with the power steering line with adaptive steering.
Blockage causes the green o-ring to squeeze out the side of the power steering pump.
How to fix? goto bmw, order $2,000 pump and $500 power steering line or do what my buddy did:
Got to Nitro Industrial (if you're local to Toronto) or any place that can custom make hydraulic lines and re-use the metal ends of the power steering line. Silver solder both ends to braided teflon stainless lines. $120 give or take...
Then goto the o-ring store and order one of these:
https://www.theoringstore.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=367_355_356&products_id=11562
4.20
These o-rings are thicker than the oem by a little.
DIY or pay your local bmw indy specialist 3-5 hours labor and you're good. If you only replace the pump, you'll be doing the job again in 3 months.... or less. Poor engineering...
