By the sea in Verkkosaari, Helsinki, an 81-apartment residential building named Verkkosaaren Laudus is under construction as part of the City of Helsinki’s Re-Thinking Urban Housing programme. The building utilises advanced energy technologies.

In this video, filmed at the construction site in April 2025, Joni Lehtimäki, Site Manager at Varte Oy, and Alar Pöldmaa, Production Manager at HeatSons Oy, the company responsible for the project’s HVAC work, tell us about the building and its ventilation solutions. “Vallox has been our main equipment supplier for years, and we have only good things to say about them. Excellent equipment,” says Alar, praising Vallox for outstanding cooperation.

The apartments use an air-circulation heating system for heating. In addition to the efficient Vallox ventilation units installed for each apartment, Vallox MLV Multi duct radiators have been placed in the duct system. The duct radiators can be used for both heating and cooling supply air. The apartments also feature Vallox X-Line cooker hoods, which can be used to control ventilation from inside the apartment, and Vallox room temperature sensors for measuring the indoor air temperature. In the building, the ventilation units are in a separate utility services space in the hallway allowing for easy maintenance without disturbing the residents.
